Sean Cranbury

I am a writer and community leader working in the non-profit sector.

Currently, I am the Director of Organizational Development with the Physiotherapy Association of BC. In the past I have worked as the Director of Communications for a diverse set of non-profits including BC Dental Hygienists Association, Regional Animal Protection Society, Visceral Visions, and the Pacific Legal Education and Outreach, among others.

I have served as the Executive Director of the BC and Yukon Book Prizes and during my time there I helped to establish two new cash prizes for writers including the Jim Deva Prize for Writing That Provokes. The Commissioner of Yukon Award for Literary Contribution is the first-ever prize to recognize Yukon writers.

In 2010 I helped to establish the registered non-profit society, Real Vancouver Writers’ Series. This literary reading series organizes six events per year supporting emerging and established writers from Vancouver and across Canada.

I have won awards for my contributions to the writing community from the Surrey Board of Trade and Pandora’s Collective.

I live in Vancouver with my partner Carleigh Baker.

In 2023 I had the opportunity to interview legendary author and activist, Cory Doctorow, during his book tour in support of Red Team Blues.

This was the third time that I had spoken to Cory over the years.

The event was held at Heritage Hall on Main Street and was put on by Massy Arts Society and Raincoast Books.
